Each meeting begins with chapter news, show and tell, sharing of resources and general frivolity. Then an invited speaker will give a demo or short lecture on various jewelry topics. These might be directly related to metal clay such as adding color in various ways, gilding with Keum Boo and firing with glass or may refer to basic jewelry making techniques such as riveting, etching or the ins and outs of Agentium Silver. There might also be business related discussions on marketing, photography, selling through online marketplaces or creating a business plan.

Special events are planned throughout the year. An annual Bead Swap and Holiday Party to celebrate another year together, Trash to Treasure swaps or outings to events of special interest like the Festival of the Arts in Laguna. Recently we decorated small matchboxes and hid small treasures inside to trade - just for fun. It was such a kick that we'd like to make it a regular activity.

NewMetal Artists has been pleased to host workshops with Barbara Becker Simon, Pam East, Mary Ellin D'Agostino, Deb Jammott and Kate McKinnon and plans to invite other talented artists to teach in L.A. in the near future.
